Hailey Bieber is being sued for trademark infringement after launching her new skin care brand, Rhode, under the same name as an unrelated, nine-year-old fashion brand.

The lawsuit prompted a string of unflattering press hits, which overwhelmingly highlighted the existing fashion brand’s side of the story, at Bieber’s expense. Bieber’s case highlights two principles of crisis management that we champion.

Be prepared and proactive

If you don’t tell your story, others will tell it for you ― including the good, the bad, and the ugly. We advise companies and individuals to get in front of the news cycle with a clear, compelling, and honest narrative.

Bieber could have made a strong case for calling her skin care line Rhode. It’s her middle name, after all. She had previously sought to secure the name Bieber Beauty but was rejected due to potential confusion with trademarks registered by her husband, Justin Bieber.

She was undoubtedly aware of the potential for conflict over the Rhode name, too: Bieber attempted to purchase the naming rights from the fashion brand years earlier and was turned down. By proactively telling her story ahead of the brand’s launch, Bieber could have preempted some of the public backlash in the crucial early days of her new company.

The communications landscape is shifting

We believe that traditional PR is dead. The media environment is rapidly changing; anyone with access to a smartphone can be a publisher, reaching millions of viewers across the globe with just a few clicks. Online forums like Twitter have diluted the ability of powerful companies and individuals to leverage their influence among major media platforms to quash threats to their business or reputation.

Upstarts understand that there is currency in conflict, and they can leverage the public spotlight surrounding celebrities like Bieber to boost their own brands. Consultants and lawyers are more likely to join their cause, seeking the star power that now comes with taking on and defeating an established brand.

In this new environment, half-hearted PR efforts don’t cut it. Bieber appeared unprepared for the burst of attention that played out across social media platforms following the June lawsuit. The founders of the fashion startup were able to frame the dispute as a powerful celebrity swooping in and trampling on their hard-earned brand.

Bieber’s side of the story was notably absent from prominent coverage of the lawsuit, with several articles noting that her team did not respond to a request for comment.

These major missteps could have been avoided with a better understanding of the new communications landscape, in which big players can no longer appear to steamroll their smaller competitors without consequence.

As any hotel owner knows, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment is essential for attracting guests. The hotel furniture is one of the most important elements of an inviting hotel room.

Outdated or worn-out furniture can make even the most stylish room feel shabby and uninviting. Furthermore, old furniture is often less comfortable and functional than newer pieces.

When looking for a place to stay, hotel guests often look for unique experiences and value for their money. That’s why you need to meet their needs and provide them with excellent hospitality services.

Upgrading your hotel furniture regularly is a wise investment that will pay off in the form of happy guests and increased bookings.

In addition to attracting new guests, new furniture can create a more positive working environment for your employees, leading to improved morale and service.

Also, you don’t have to have a huge budget to upgrade your hotel furniture. If you know where to look and how to choose a partner supplier or manufacturer, you can have functional, stylish, and comfortable furniture within a reasonable budget.

Ultimately, investing in high-quality hotel furniture is an investment in your business that will provide lasting benefits.

Here are just a few of the many reasons why upgrading your hotel furniture is a wise investment:

1. Better guest satisfaction

One of the most important aspects of running a successful hotel is ensuring guests are happy with their stay. Upgrading your furniture is one of the best ways to guarantee guest satisfaction.

When guests are uncomfortable or unable to use the furniture in their room, they’re likely to have a negative experience and give your hotel a poor review.

By providing guests with comfortable, stylish furniture, you’ll ensure they have a positive experience at your hotel and are more likely to return in the future. Customer retention is much cheaper than trying to attract new customers.

2. Increased profits

When guests are satisfied with their stay, they’re more likely to leave positive reviews online and recommend your hotel to others. This word-of-mouth advertising is invaluable for bringing in new business and boosting profits.

3. Brand personality

Upgrading your furniture allows you to design your hotel to reflect the brand personality that you want to impart. Brand personality is essential for leaving a great impression on your guests and making them remember your hotel.

Hotel guests will likely book again with a hotel brand they know, like, and trust. That’s possible when you make their stay memorable.

4. Connection with customers

The way you design your room allows you to connect with your customers. Customer preferences and needs evolve, so investing in new furniture to meet those factors helps your hotel stay relevant.

5. More efficient use of space

Aside from the room’s aesthetics, it also matters to customers that they can utilize the furniture optimally. Modern furniture pieces aren’t only stylish; they’re also highly customizable so that you can fit them strategically and efficiently in hotel rooms.

6. Improved staff productivity

High-quality furniture can also lead to increased productivity among your staff. If your employees are comfortable and have everything they need at their fingertips, they’ll be able to work more efficiently and provide better service to guests.

The bottom line

Upgrading your hotel furniture unfolds many benefits beyond the aesthetic appeal of hotel rooms. It allows you to provide a better and unique customer experience, improve your brand, boost profits, connect with customers, and improve staff productivity. In addition, you can upgrade your furniture without hurting your budget, and it will be a wise investment that will pay off in many ways.

Victoria Kennedy is the master of all of her trades: CEO of award-winning Victorious PR, top-charting classical singer, and networker extraordinaire. As a leader in an industry built on who one knows, Kennedy correspondingly understands and cultivates perfect networking qualities that even her equal peers covet.

Kennedy, Rolling Stone Culture Council and Forbes Agency Council member, was personally invited to sponsor and perform at the momentous Million Dollar Mastermind event (hosted by Ryan Stewman) in July. She sang the United States National Anthem in operatic and graced the stage once more during the three-day event to eloquently explain the power of quality PR to a captivated audience.

We sat down with Miss Kennedy to hearken to her wisdom in how to network naturally, gracefully, and successfully. Here is what she had to say.

Take Your Time

“Networking isn’t an overnight achievement like applying for a job or pitching to a publication,” Kennedy said. “It is almost as if it happens without you realizing. Like the common idiom, ‘Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans,’ so it is with networking. One day you look back, and see the fruits of your labor by way of all the amazing people you now call colleagues.”

Kennedy explained that networking, especially in the entrepreneurial space, is more about having your radar always on, and your lighthouse always shining. You want to attract the right people while taking note that they are around you. If you push too hard or come off desperate, you lose the game. Networking is about nurturing, not about getting phone numbers and checking names off your list.

Manage Your Expectations

To continue that thread, Kennedy shared that managing expectations is paramount.

“If you expect everyone you meet to be your golden goose, you will become unrightfully disillusioned fast,” she said. “Imagine going to a free networking event, hosted in a restaurant. Everyone there, because the event is free, is hoping that some magic wizard will walk in the door and invest in their company or teach them the skills they’ve been wanting to learn for free. But at a paid event, everyone there has something to offer — before asking for things in return.”

Give What You Want to Get

A perfect segway into Kennedy’s next point, is to lead with value.

“The golden rule applies to everything in life, including entrepreneurial networking!” she went on. “Treat others how you want to be treated. Have healthy boundaries, of course, don’t get taken advantage, but do provide value to those around you.

“Whether it’s a mentoring conversation, some free savvy tips that perhaps clients usually pay for, or even a listening ear, we all have things to share that others need. I recommend outlining, on paper, what you are willing to give with no expectation of payback so that you don’t let your excitement run away with you. You don’t see me giving out free PR very often!”

Be Yourself

In the entrepreneurial space, you will always be surrounded by people who are a step, or many, ahead of you. This can cause intimidation and lack of confidence, which stamps out any hope of genuine networking results.

“At all times, be you,” Kennedy said. “People in my circles sometimes playfully poke fun at my vintage style of dressing, for example, but if I went home and changed into all-black power suits, I would lose their respect. Just because something is different, even if people point it out, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Being yourself is crucial — if you can’t be you, why are you doing this? Never sacrifice who you are for the sake of a feigned friendship. You started your business to be your own leader. That includes your interpersonal life.”

Know Your Strengths

Being yourself includes knowing your strengths and playing them up. If you know you are good at something, don’t be afraid to share that skill with others. Having basic self-awareness is key to making sure you bring something to the table.

“By playing to your strengths, you bring out the best in others,” Kennedy explained. “I’m not just talking about your resume skills either. I mean if you have hilarious jokes, tell them. If you are a hugger, give hugs. If you are great at toasts, making eye contact, singing, multi-tasking, or small talk, do it. Mingling can be exhausting, but knowing which parts you are good at makes all the difference. And if you don’t know, ask your close friends. The ones you made by being yourself and leading with value, even if you didn’t realize that’s what you were doing.”

Everyone has heard the phrase “smartest guys in the room,” but it’s very likely the cumulative IQ in the room would be higher if not everyone was a guy. Diane Yoo is a rare female, and even rarer Asian female, success story in the brutally competitive world of venture capital. The former Miss Asia USA 2008 winner (international beauty pageants are at least as competitive as venture capital) is an accredited investor who has invested in 35+ companies with a focus on diverse founders.

The list of Diane’s achievements is long and stellar. She is in the 1% of Asian-American female founders who are also a partner, and has founded angel networks, venture funds, and investment networks. She works extensively with more than 700 global companies.

Her next project is the toughest she has taken on yet. Diane Yoo is determined to level the playing field for talented women who are all but shutout from tech fundraising. She is co-founder of Global She Ventures, an accelerator in partnership with Rice University to catalyze global women entrepreneurs. Diane is also co-founder to a national media platform, Identity Unveiled, which highlights trailblazing Asian American women who have broken barriers and become firsts in their industry. Diane serves as an investment partner to several Silicon Valley funds, including the largest women’s fund and the first fem-tech fund in the nation.

Grit Daily: We were last in touch late last year. What have you been working on since then?

Diane Yoo: Since our last talk, I’ve been focused on pushing the envelope forward for Asian American female entrepreneurs and executives. I’ve secured numerous IPO candidates where diversity for board members and executives is ripe for women.

Since then I’ve founded the first IPO accelerator in partnership with Korea Investment Corporation (KIC). KIC is a sovereign wealth fund established by the government of South Korea. Their goal is “to enhance sovereign wealth and contribute to the development of the domestic financial industry.” Our program has secured several companies with market valuation of $600 million-$1 billion.

Grit Daily: From your perspective as an experienced and successful VC, why is it that female founders have such a hard time securing funding? After all, we are led to believe these decisions are data-driven.

Diane Yoo: While there may still be a gender bias towards investing, women founders still receive scrutiny such as, “Can she really close her raise (of millions) but more so, does she have the executive leadership and track record or ability to truly run a billion-dollar company?” There are so many highly qualified women who need opportunity and access to board seats to powerfully represent their voices.

Grit Daily: Are female founders scrutinized more than male founders? And since I presume they are, what should they anticipate and how can they prepare for that?

Diane Yoo: The scrutiny is sadly there. Countless women receive endless questions to affirm if their credibility stands. Female founders have proven to have higher returns, be extremely successful as founders and CEOs, and outperform their male colleagues, yet they still remain highly underrepresented.

I’ve seen countless women apologize or feel that they are not enough. That needs to stop. Women should be as unabashed as their counter colleagues and never back down or feel as if they are “not enough” due to internal excuses. I’ve seen women focus on leadership education materials or classes, when really, they need to go out into the field powerfully, even when they don’t feel like it.

Grit Daily: If female founders in general have a harder time successfully pitching VCs, how much harder is it for minority female founders?

Diane Yoo: Minority female founders have more difficulty overall, as there is not only a gender- but also an ethnic-biased lens. Less than 2% of people of color have successfully secured venture money in a trillion dollar industry.

Don’t shy away from how credible you truly are. Nor justify any anxiety in the lens of comparison. All that needs to go, and women and minorities should stay close to a community that supports their ambitions and go out powerfully.

Grit Daily: Entrepreneurs are fixated on networking, which really suggests that who you know is at least as important for successful fundraising the pitch itself. What’s your networking advice to female founders, and how is it different from what you would y tell male founders?

Diane Yoo: Networking is crucial, and it’s absolutely crucial that the founder understands her or his own networks. I see many “connectors” who actually lack the ability to harness the power of their network, and they absolutely are not able to reap from their own curated backyard. VCs look to invest not only in the company, but more so in the founder and their success and DNA.

Grit Daily: I know from our previous Q&A that you are passionate about seeing women succeed in business. What are you doing to help them?

Diane Yoo: I want to place more women in powerful positions. I’ve secured partnerships in efforts to work toward the advancement of diverse leaders through sourcing women, incubating talent through a leadership institute. I’m working with organizations to put more women in power, from board seats to publicly traded companies. I’m very passionate about empowering more women to be in powerful decision-making roles through my work with Wall Street in efforts to bring leaders together to help elevate the industry as a whole.

That women are under-represented in entrepreneurship, is a truth that most of us have been aware of for some time. Unfortunately, despite the increasing collective consciousness around the issue, data shows that the efforts to end this under-representation have fallen short. As such, The Bridge launched its Bridge Funding Global initiative earlier this month with the mission of helping change this reality.

According to a report by Credit Suisse, not only are women less likely to hold executive leadership positions but they also receive significantly less funding. Data shows that in Europe, all-male funding teams receive 93% of all capital invested, with only 2% going to all-female teams. This, when combined with the fact that the percentage of women in management positions in companies around the world is only 19.9%, shows a clear bias against feminine stereotypes.

While the entrepreneurial gender gap certainly seems to be closing thanks to the efforts of many organizations and private individuals, there is a lot of work to be done. With most efforts having focused on female representation in leadership positions until now, venture capital financing for female-led teams and the empowerment of female limited/general partners seems to be the next step.

The Bridge is looking to do just that by connecting limited partners with emerging female-led technology VC funds. Founded in 2020, the organization has been fulfilling this mission by organizing “The Bridge Conference”, an invite-only event focused on providing resources to connect both parties, presenting emerging funds, and offering high-quality content.

With more than 36 commitments having already been made through The Bridge to emerging fund female managers, the organization launched its new initiative earlier in June. Known as Bridge Funding Global, the platform relies on a selection committee formed by US top institutional and family office investors. The committee will include 20 permanent judges who will help select the top female GMs to become the first members.

Female GPs interested in becoming members will be able to apply twice a year, with the cap being reached once 100 GP members are selected. The judges, who collectively manage over 2 trillion, will take into consideration the program’s promises to the community, which include:

  • Create meaningful and personalized connections
  • Be data and growth centric
  • Keep a focused, directed, unbiased, and curated access to the community
  • Increase transparency on the LP landscape
  • Engage ecosystem partners to ensure the best solutions and support to emerging VC managers

Competition is expected to be high given the increasing interest that The Bridge Conference has received over the past years. The last edition, which took place back in May, saw the participation of 40 LPs and 40 female GPs chosen out of 197 applicants, with a total of 36 commitments taking place. With applications closing on July 1st, there is still time to apply.

The two 8-inch guns protruded out of the bellowing cruiser, the HMS Kent, which held the crew of the Royal Navy. The men changed out of their neat blue uniforms, switching into plain t-shirts and shorts, sweeping the floor while waving their hockey sticks in the air. This makeshift game became part of a daily ritual, played each afternoon between their preparation for the hallowing war (Photographs, “The Royal Navy During the Second World War”, Imperial War Museum Collection).

Regardless of the time period or what conflicts the world endured, sports has always prevailed as a universal unifier.

The numbers glaring across the scoreboards, ecstatic fans in a warm embrace, the blazing horns in the background. This visual encompasses what comes to mind when we think of the term, sports.

As one of the most coveted industries in the world, sports organizations have to regularly adapt to meet the growing demands of the increasingly technology-savvy fanbase. The past five years have witnessed a spike in venture capital investments in sports tech.

Technology can capture historical moments, such as the milliseconds before and after an athlete scores the championship goal. Experiential data like scoring a goal or the pompous VIP amenities are hard to describe with just words and photos.

Meanwhile, the income of a sports league, such as the New York Yankees, is dependent on three things: sponsorships, attendance, and merchandise. Sponsorships in sports teams accounted for 70% of the $15B total spent on sponsorships in 2016. However, did you know that up until the last five years, many of the biggest brands in sports were still pitching seven-figure deals within the confines of PowerPoint?

One technology has changed the whole game – revolutionizing how deals are being done in the boardrooms.

Its name: Digideck by Sportsdigita .

Photo credit: Angelina Lawton, with permission

The founder of Sportsdigita is a powerful leader with several years of experience in both the financial industry and in professional sports leagues.

Angelina Lawton, the founder, and CEO of Sportsdigita got her vision for what is now known as Digideck during her time with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.

“I saw these huge corporate brands coming into meetings and all we had were linear PowerPoints to try and impress them. I knew there had to be a better way.”

Today, Sportsdigita is the solution trusted by over 400 sports teams and enterprise brands around the globe. It combines personalization features, real-time analytics, and immersive technology to create beautiful and personalized presentations for any company.

Illustrating the numbers in a creative way

Visualizing data can help tremendously in how we understand it. Interactive tools drive engagement and increase value for the creator in the long run. Propping up your hard-earned statistics in a way that can capture a buyer’s attention is crucial, especially in a market as dynamic as sports. “In the financial industry, it was hard to bring the numbers, charts, and graphs to life,” Angelina comments. However, when I got into the NHL, the environment drastically changed to one that was dynamic and from there I saw a natural progression of how technology could be utilized to enhance the experience.”

Companies can easily plug their facts and figures into Digideck which can produce interactive graphs and real-time analytics. Digideck allows sellers to communicate directly with buyers at their convenience, which leads to better engagement and greater potential for more booked meetings.

Creating immersive experiences for maximum revenue

Research has shown that when people have better experiences with a product, they are more likely to spend more. With the dawn of the metaverse, many brands are pivoting towards using AR/VR technologies to boost their product interactions with customers.

Digideck allows companies to showcase their offerings, taking the buyer on an immersive journey through video technology and elegant interactive cursor buttons. Imagine getting a 360° view of what the President’s Suite looks like in your local sports arena, instead of just a flat photo. The experience sells itself.

Seamless distribution for efficiency

With traditional presentations, you have to add a number of links that take you to other pages. The amount of times the user has to oscillate between the presentation and other weblinks is distracting and subtracts from the overall experience.

With Digideck, everything is integrated into the deck which removes friction and increases attention span. The deck can be distributed to every stakeholder in one link and can be viewed at the buyer’s convenience. This signals respect for people’s time— not strapping them down to a 30-minute pitch meeting for something they might have no interest in. Digideck empowers the buyer to make their own decisions by presenting the data in an appealing and easy-to-understand manner.

Conclusion

As technology and the world evolves, sports has to evolve with it. While much of the focus recently has been centered around the fan experience and athletic improvement, a crucial element that has been quietly revolutionalized is the end-to-end sales process. The adage goes, “People won’t remember what you’ve said, but they’ll always remember how you made them feel.” Presentation is simply an area that can’t be missed, and stellar technologies like Digideck can help companies build an elusive and irresistible brand that sells.

While I knew that Tulum Crypto Fest would bring the vibe, the beauty, and the smarts, I had no idea how much it would make me re-fall in love again with Tulum and validate my reason for being here so much. Tulum brought so many of us here during the pandemic, pulled by an indescribable and energetic calling to this mystical jewel of the Caribbean and with a desire to find our tribe and apply our skills for good. Many of us feel a calling here to connect with other Earth caretakers, and collaborate on our many Web3 projects, all while feeding our souls with otherworldly mysticism and wonder. That’s what Tulum Crypto Fest was to me in a nutshell, but there was also more!

The talks from Crypto School were situated under the psychedelic mushroom sculptures of Papaya Playa’s sandy beachside courtyard. Speakers were approachable, spiritual and profound, educating noobs and enthusiasts alike on best practices for acquiring crypto, NFTs, wallet safety measures and what not to do along your crypto journey.

Conscious Crypto

Conscious crypto is a vibe unique to Tulum that mixes spirituality, a mindset of abundance, self-reliance, personal expression, and a conscious relationship with money into a perfect barefoot luxury blend that has permeated its way into the psyche of the fest.

Embodied by the Ascended Trader, Crypto Love Ninja, and Tulum Crypto Club Founders, barefoot luxury promises a lifestyle abundant in time and freedom, over visible material wealth.

Education goes Hand in Hand with Crypto

In order to create a decentralized world, we must onboard more people into crypto. Even in a bear market, we can see that crypto can be a path to wealth and financial independence. With so many countries adopting bitcoin as a national tender it is easy to see that the current dip crypto is a buying opportunity. But that’s what someone who has already drunk the kool-aid would say.

The Women Taking the Lead in Web3 panel featured a group of strong badass chingonas that are making waves in the web3 world sharing their journeys and lessons.

Francesca Martina, Miroslava, Sandra Ponce de Leon, Karen Nieves, Steph Ferraro: More Women in Crypto

Miroslava Pineda Landa, is a serial entrepreneur and CEO of Fractional Class Mexico. Miroslava and her team are advancing fractional ownership of high end real-estate through the blockchain, having developed their own marketplace, smart contracts and wallets to offer democratized real estate investment opportunities to the public.

Francesca Martina, crypto enthusiast and founder of More Women in Crypto, believes that a decentralized way of life using blockchain can create new social and financial systems that benefit those traditional financial systems often leave behind. The organization has a mission to drive the adoption of crypto, offer mentorship opportunities, and bring exposure and visibility to women in blockchain.

Steph Ferrera is a Mexican entrepreneur, artist, community leader and cofounder of More Women In Crypto. Steph is passionate about encouraging mass adoption of decentralized systems and believes women have a powerful role to play in DEFI. Her experience as an ecologist and regeneration warrior has helped her bridge her passions into utility for Regen Tulum and as part of the team that is bringing Tulum Coin to market.

Karen Sieves is digital and traditional business designer, specializing in blockchain, NFT, and metaverse strategy development. Karen has been building projects in the blockchain and Web3 since 2017 and believes that these technologies are integral and essential to all modern and successful businesses. Her current projects such as MetaInvestors.eth are focused on education, web3 adoption and marketplace growth.

NFTs to Save the Planet

Another insightful and inspiring panel, NFTs to Save the Planet was headlined by Charlie Graham, CoFounder of Nemus and Pinche Chucho of Petgaseritos collection from Petgas. Both collections are on a mission to save the planet through Web3.

Chucho Escoto Faces, Petgaseritos, Sandra Ponce de Leon, NFT Boutique, Charlie Graham, Nemus, Tulum Crypto Fest

Nemus´ model is the creation of NFTs that correlate to actual Amazon Rainforest land held in trust. The mint raise goes to the protection of this land, approximately the size of the island of Barbados or 41,000 hectares with plans to continue to expand the protected land acquired as well as sustainably develop the land with indigenous populations. Nemus is the first to use many innovations in both its planned game mechanics as well as how it is currently crowdsourcing its lore and getting its Guardians involved in the building and creation process. Nemus is building a ¨greenprint¨ for how to use Web3 as a model for conservation and inspiring a movement of similar projects that are using NFTs to bring awareness to and to save precious ecosystems like the Amazon.

Petgaseritos is the brainchild of Pinche Chucho, also known as Chucho Escoto Faces, Cofounder of Petgas.mx, a Mexican company that is bringing a new innovation to market that transforms plastic into clean fuels. The Petgaseritos go on adventures IRL (in real life) and around the metaverse incentivizing “plastic mining” through beach cleanups and other plastic collection initiatives which tie into the Petgas mission of shared responsibility where we all take part in saving the earth and de-plastifying the planet. Petgas NFT collections such as Petgaseritos will offer actual Petgas plant revenues as passive income opportunities and other drops of unlockable content. Petgaseritos and Petgas coin are two of the planned NFT collection launches it is planning as part of its web3 and corporate innovation strategy.

The XibablaNFT takes inspiration from Nemus´ Greenprint for Conservation. The 10,000 NFT planned collection will present the 10,000 square meters of stalactite and stalagmite filled cavern that is the most important cavern in the Mayan World.

The Zazil Tunich cenote, future XibalbaNFT

A beautiful jewelbox of nature’s artwork, it hosts thousands of natural formations that have been forming since the meteorite that hit the earth and caused the Ice age killing the dinosaurs. It has one formation that is over 500,000 years old. The NFT project is meant to continue the work of the family that has been taking care of the cenote and restoring it to its current state and beauty.

NFT Boutique at the Beach Holographic Experience

The NFT Boutique brought its holographic experience to the beach at Papaya Playa featuring new upcoming collections

NFT Boutique Holographic Experience featuring Plantiver.se and House of Panther

such as the House of Panther, existing house collections Cosmic Cats 420, Petgaseritos, and also new partner collections currently for sale and minting such as The Eye of Soluminati, and Plantiver.se a collection of NFTs made by the plants themselves!

Plantiver.se is giving plants autonomy and a voice so that they can be active participants in the metaverse as well as our real world! The project attaches sensor to different plants and let their state control what art gets made. In this way, the plants have created beautiful images from a moment in their life, making them unique, collectible records and reminders of the powers and talents of the natural world we live in.

Pursuing a passion for a career or starting a business often warrants a degree of concern. Will our passions pan out or amount to anything?

Studies and world-class examples show that passion remains an integral part of entrepreneurial success. Without it, entrepreneurs may find it difficult to overcome the long hours, as well as the turbulences that come with building a business from the ground up. A founder’s passion contributes to increases in buy-in rate from investors and the general public.

It was the late Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, that once said “People with passion can change the world for the better.” He attributed much of his success to dedication and passion for what he was doing.

It’s taking that first leap and getting started that is often the hardest. It’s not uncommon for entrepreneurs to fall ‘accidentally’ into their businesses. Many can turn their hobbies or side gigs into a full-time income. However, this requires a bit of fear elimination. Dismantling the constructs that prevent us from pursuing something, just because it seems uncertain. Becoming an entrepreneur not only takes passion but also grit and experimentation to find the right fit.

One entrepreneur drew inspiration from throwing her son’s first birthday party and turned it into a multi-digit full-time entertainment business. Arisineh Hoonanian is the CEO of Little Artist Party. The Los Angeles-based party planning company attracts the likes of well-known names such as the Kardashians, Jessica Simpson, and Lily Ghalichi.

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to cultivate their passion and don’t be afraid of using creativity to inspire their future businesses. You never know where it can lead to.

Identify your Passion and Become Meticulous About It

Let’s assume your passion is sports. You desire to create a career that has something to do with sports. Now, go attempt to find a job with that in mind.

The fact is, you’re going to have a difficult time because you’ve failed to narrow down your passion to something tangible. What is it you enjoy about sports? Is there a particular sport you favor? Is there a specific element you want to influence?

Start by identifying something that brings you joy, that you have a fair degree of aptitude in, and most importantly brings value to others. Now your goal is to become the best at it. And to become the best at something, you need to be meticulous about the details and not let yourself become a ‘generalist’.

Little Artist Party went from throwing one birthday party per weekend to now being booked for 20 on average. This monumental growth didn’t come overnight. A lot of the success, Arsineh attributes to long hours and meticulous preparation. Despite having an entire event planning team, Arsineh ensures every single detail is executed to her standard of quality for every party.

It’s this level of dedication to quality and customer satisfaction that has driven countless testimonials and allowed the company to expand its services. If Arsineh didn’t have the passion for kids and cultivating the best experiences for these precious years of their lives, it would have been extremely hard for her to pull off this level of execution. It wasn’t just parties she wanted to plan, these were niche parties catered towards challenging the creativity of kids.

Let your Passion be Showcased in the Branding

Photo by Olya Kobrusev from Pexels

People will often buy into the entrepreneur, more than they do the product. Don’t be afraid to showcase what you’re passionate about and what you’re working towards. Social media can help business owners establish a more genuine connection with their audience.

Your passion can be embodied through your branding and messaging. For example, the Little Artist Party website is exuberant with bright colors, images, and headings that reflect creativity, joy, and trust. Its logo is a paint palette reflecting its value of letting kids express their innermost creativity through play.

“Focusing on marketing is also a big part of expressing my passion. Without having a platform to show our creativity and events, it would have been difficult to present our vision,”, Arisineh comments.

Find the Right People that Align with Your Passion

It takes a village to build a successful business, but if that village is comprised of the wrong fits, it might come down like the Jenga game.

When you’re ready to take that step to bring on people to assist you in building your company, make sure you’re explicit about your passion and outcomes. People that share your vision are more likely to be more loyal and have higher performance than those who aren’t. It also reduces potential conflict and tension in the workplace if everyone is aligned on the same goals.

Allocating responsibilities can be difficult for an entrepreneur, but is necessary for growth. As Little Party Artist grew, the additional staff and event planners brought on helped monumentally in sustaining the level of quality Arsineh wanted for the parties. She’s especially keen on taking the time to find the right people for the task.

Conclusion

Betting on passion alone won’t get you to the finish line of starting a business, however, it can give you the fuel to persist in the long haul. Passion can also help entrepreneurs identify what they value and set up standards for their businesses. These standards can be reflected across their branding, marketing, to their teams, and final product. The more you hone down on your passion, the greater quality you can produce for your customers, and the more likely you will achieve successful outcomes for your business.

Tulum Crypto Fest is coming to show the world why.

Tulum’s exquisite beauty is everywhere – from its clear, crystal blue sea water to its cleansing and transcendent cenotes, it is a magical place with extraordinary energy and pull. This shiny gem on the Mayan Riviera has always been a place of great importance and energy. The ancient Mayan name for Tulum is Zama, meaning City of Dawn. Zama was an important trading hub, where the Mayans built a beautiful temple.

Tulum has always been a cultural center. Digital nomads, technologists, crypto enthusiasts, and eco-warriors from all over the world (author included) have flocked to Tulum since realizing that WFH (work from home) could in fact mean WFB (work from the beach).

Tulum Beach

Tulum Crypto Fest (TCF), May 13-15, plans to shine a spotlight on this “barefoot luxury” lifestyle. Tulum has become a portal to a life of business mixed with pleasure, while surrounded by nature.

The festival theme “Where nature meets technology” unites the two worlds through an IRL techno-luxury experience connecting with the brightest minds in Defi, planet freethinkers, and eco-conscious builders, along with excellent content and networking. TCF is a non-traditional festival that features renowned international speakers, unique interactive experiences and a spotlight on the boho-chic decentralized way of life that has become a magnet for the world.

TCF has partnered with NFT Boutique in Tulum to provide an “NFT Boutique at the Beach” experience through holographic NFT displays in the Papaya Playa Project courtyard, where the festival will be centered.

NFT Boutique is also excited to present a special daily happy hour during the fest from 5-8pm featuring Crypto Art and Culture exhibit by Aaron Koenig.

More Women in Crypto courtesy of Justine Jade

The festival itself takes place in the beautiful beachside eco-hotel, Papaya Playa Project (PPP), a hotel that is emblematic of Tulum’s boho chic. TCF will be an immersive experience featuring 5-star service and unique experiences accessible only to attendees. These include a private cenote event, healing and wellness, and evening activities including top DJs. Attendees can truly have a taste the barefoot luxury lifestyle Tulum offers.

The Yucatan Peninsula has around 6,000 cenotes (pronounced seh-NO-tay), which is Spanish for “sinkhole.”

For tickets to Tulum Crypto Fest, use this link and code NFTBoutique for a discount! See you at the beach!
