Show and Tell: Transparency in the air with the uHoo Indoor Air Quality Sensor

**This article about the uHoo Indoor Air Quality Sensor is co-authored by Hannah Buczek of Bold TV.

Welcome back to Show and Tell, where I unbox sweet tech for every area of your life. In this segment, we’re focusing on air quality. You might have seen our previous unboxing of the Molekule Air Pro Purifier. While it’s vital to breathe clean air in your home – where you spend much of your time – wouldn’t you like to know what exactly you’re breathing? Enter this device: the uHoo Indoor Air Quality Sensor. Let’s check out its features.

Simple design and low maintenance

At first glance, you’ll notice that the uHoo is petite – about the size of a water bottle. It has a very simple design, with no buttons and no screens. Simply plug it in, download the app and control it from your phone. You can also connect it to your Google Home or Alexa for quick voice reports on your air quality or just check the temperature.

Nine factors of air quality

The uHoo is an air quality detection device with nine dedicated sensors, so it monitors your indoor air and lets you know if you have a problem. Using the app, you can get alerts, tips, and view real-time insights on nine factors it tracks. Using this data, you can make better decisions about when to open a window, turn on a fan, use a humidifer or dehumidiefer. These actionable steps help improve your air quality which effects overall health.

Temperature – Many people who don’t sleep well at night don’t have their room cool enough.

Humidity – Mold loves moist environments. If you can monitor humidity, you can avoid mold as much as possible.

Air pressure – Change in pressure can cause headaches and other symptoms.

Dust – The uHoo can detect the smallest classification of particulate matter (PM), which is 2.5 microns; this is the size of a speck of dust.

Carbon dioxide – A normal amount of carbon dioxide can help you have a clearer head and better focus.

Carbon monoxide – People have carbon monoxide alarms in their homes for a reason! It can be very dangerous.

Nitrogen dioxide – This harmful gas can affect your lung health and breathing.

VOCs – Volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) come from many cleaning products.

Ozone – You may not know that O3 (ozone) can be harmful to your respiratory system.

Virus index

Finally, the uHoo has a virus index so you can monitor the likelihood of a virus surviving your indoor air. A score of 1-3 means virus survival and spread are unlikely; a score of 9-10 means the opposite. When leveraging multiple uHoo devices to provide coverage and insight across multiple spaces like in an office building — uHoo provides a comprehensive business dashboard to manage it all. What do you think? Do you need more insight into your home or office air quality?
