Think Kenyans would prefer sandwich wraps over smoothes? Think again. Or at least that was one discovery of Karim Nurani — now-famed investor, Chief Strategist at popular pre-IPO investment app (Linqto) and chief of Global Investor Conference, which returns in person in Lisbon this May. Who knew?

1. Karim Nurani’s first investment was in a gold mine in Tanzania.

2. He loves Neil Diamond.

3. Coffee is his favorite ice-cream flavor.

4. Loves motorcycle tenting and camping in all of its glamor.

5. Nurani completed his first Half Iron Man in 2021.

6. He wants to be known as the happiest man in the world. He realized this in 2017and lives by the quote: “Make everyday your best day.”

7. He was born on a farm in Kenya.

8. His most challenging job was importing textiles from India to Vancouver, in college.

9. His worst business idea: Selling wraps in Kenya. He started a wraps and smoothies restaurant and smoothies sold well but the wraps failed. When polling why they failed: “Kenyans like to see our food,” was the response.

10. Nurani brought the first “Tex Mex” restaurant to Kenya.
