Welcome back to Show and Tell, where I unbox sweet tech for every area of your life. The past year has turned many people into germaphobes. Our phones got wiped with disinfecting wipes for the first time ever, and we would’ve fallen over rather than hold onto the subway rails. So, the newest tech you probably never heard of before 2020 is the pandemic is UV light. From the biggest tech companies to the lowest knockoff brands, manufacturers have started making UV products of all forms and sizes. In this segment, we unbox the Acuva Solarix UV Disinfecting Wand to see how it stands out.

Technology from a water purification company

One of the best features of the Solarix is that it doesn’t feel like a cheap knock-off. Acuva is best-known for its water purification systems — for refrigerators, water fountains, and more — that use IntenseBeam purification technology. Their UV disinfecting wand has three LEDs that can kill bacteria and viruses in 10 seconds. And it has an additional two blue lights to help you pinpoint the area to disinfect. If you use it for 15 minutes a day, it should last for 500 hours, and it’s rechargeable.

Easy to use on-the-go

How would you use a disinfecting wand? The possibilities are endless: Phones, keyboards, and even steering wheels need a good cleaning. The Solarix works for flat or contoured surfaces, so wave it over your TV remote or keys to kill those germs. And if you want to sanitize on the go, the disinfecting wand is small enough to fit in your pocket, purse, or fanny pack. Do you or someone you know need the Solarix? Hey, maybe you could sanitize the Subway rail from now on!
